Volunteering and Wildlife Rehabilitation

I've been lucky to combine my love of learning, education, and animals through volunteer work with various organizations. Working with the Southeastern Raptor Center and Center for Birds of Prey for over six years has given me the opportunity to work in wildlife rehabilitation and speak at public events about local wildlife and environmental conservation. I also get to work with local sports organizations to help promote women's athletics and coach youth league soccer. In the Atlanta area, I work with our local branch of the Children's Miracle Network, raising money through programs like Extra Life. In Auburn, I worked at the Goodwill Career Center as a writing coach, helping low income families with matters ranging from career exploration and creative writing to resume and cover letter building.

Design and Production

Click the images below for links to my collaborative work. My experiences in editing, design, and writing led me to delve into freelance work through my graduate program. While I started in document and web design (this website is hand-coded), I eventually began to teach myself video editing and production and started a YouTube Project with other graduate students, Extra Levels, that ended upon graduation. Currently, we are working on a podcast called Flavor of the Geek (we are on a break and plan to continue Summer 2018). I have experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, primarily Premiere Pro and Photoshop, and also know HTML and CSS. Below are samples of various editing and design projects, some unfinished.

Horses have profoundly influenced my life. I've ridden and worked with them since childhood, first training in the hunter circuit and then moving to three-day eventing where I trained under Canadian Olympic rider Jessica Hampf. Now I work training green horses, giving riding lessons, and enjoy volunteering with therapeutic riding programs. I also enjoy going on riding treks across various countries, and most recently road across Wales.
